I love wedding nails! They are so fun to do. So elegant and pretty. I feel honored to even be a small part of any brides special day. Knowing that those nails in those pictures will last forever. Great, great-grandchildren will look back at those beautiful photos. So, girl, those nails better be on point!
Here a few things to consider when choosing your wedding nails.
Length:
If I don’t have this information all ready, I will ask my client if she has had gel nails before. What is her comfort level? Often brides will go into princess mode (as they should) and want all the things they have never had before. Long nails for example are one of them.
But how practical is this for her? I would hate to give her stiletto nails, with no support of her natural nail underneath. Chances of this breaking before the night is through is very likely. We can’t have a nail tragedy on the big day!
That is how I would approach it. Gently suggest that we meet somewhere in the middle so that we can avoid any extra stress for her. If she is hell-bent on having these long ass nails, just warn her of the possible side effects.
Color:
This is a big one for me. I am a strong believer that wedding nails should be elegant, classy and fresh.
I have all to often, had lovely ladies ask me for a wild nail color on their big day. Like Blue. Why?! I’m sorry if this is you, and you love blue. I mean, love blue all you want! Put it on your toes, I strongly suggest adding a little flair to the toe color.
Going back to those photos that last a lifetime. Maybe you love blue in your 20s but are you going to feel the same way about those nails when you are 50?
I was married 17 years ago and I have a lot of things I would change. Lol footwear being one. We were all barefoot and the boys wore their skate shoes. Cute at the time. Wishing for something a little classier now. Just saying.
Honeymoon:
I bring this one up because it might even tie into the “length” segment.
What is happening on the honey moon? Is this a lay by the pool and drink margarita’s for two weeks kind of honeymoon? Or is this what I like to call the Amazing Race honeymoon? This would look like a lot of traveling. Adventures like rock climbing, hiking, swimming with sharks etc 😉
One of these holidays will be much harder on our nails than the other. For obvious reasons. We can still have practical and gorgeous nails. I promise!
It is just something to consider. Maybe ask your nail tech to shorten them the day after, the wedding, or before you head out on your honeymoon. That way you can have the best of both worlds.
So, what are some classic looks, that I love for wedding nails? Let me give you some examples:
Wedding nails are an amazing way to add to the princess factor on your big day. They add glamour and confidence.
Often my girls will ask for their wedding nails at least once a year. It reminds them of how special they felt in that moment. What an incredible memory and feeling to be able to bring to someone.
I hope you are able to find some inspiration from my article today. If you have any questions or even pictures of your favorite wedding nails, please feel free to share. I love your feedback and I love hearing from you!
