This will be a relatively short article. But this a question that I get regularly, so I thought I should touch on it.
How Do I Clean My Gel Nails:
Really this doesn’t just apply to gel nails, but false nails of any kind and also our own natural nails for that matter.
Turmeric, gardening, cooking, children, pets. All of these little culprits can really create a mess under our nails. I am constantly inspecting my own nails to make sure they are clean and dirt free underneath. I mean, nothing worse than a nail tech with grungy nails. Ewwww!
I have heard of a few different ways to clean our nails. Like lemon juice for instance. I get the idea. We often use citrus to clean other things so why not our nails. It may help to make them a little whiter underneath but unless you are really getting in there with a cuticle pusher, the grunge won’t leave. Same goes for beach! I do not advise. Also, harsh chemicals, such as bleach can really do more damage to our nail enhancement than good.
I have heard of the wire brush or the infamous “nail brush” for cleaning. I find these to be a bit harsh and cumbersome to use. Gentle is better on this one.
So, how do I clean my gel nails??! This started way back when my son was just a toddler. He’s 17 now! Wow! But, when I would buy him a new toothbrush I would save the old one to use on my nails. Small, easy to hold. Not harsh on the nail or underneath. Just the perfect size to get in there and give them a little scrub. Also, incredibly easy to clean afterwords and it doesn’t take up a ton of space when trying to store it. (This is important to me as we are just starting to build a tiny house and space is crucial at this point!)
The toothbrush!! Who knew? I really have found this the best way to keep my nails clean and I tell everyone who asks the same! Don’t over think it! Easy peasy!
I hope this simple trick is just the answer you are looking for when it comes to keeping you’re nails clean. And the next time you are asked “How do I clean my gel nails?” Send them my way!!
