There are two types of people in the world. The ones that wish they could work from home and the ones that know they can’t.
What type are you?
Do you want to work from home?
I didn’t always work from home. In fact, it took a lot of convincing from the people I love the most. At the time, I was eight years in the industry. Something was starting to call at me. I had this amazing clientele. I worked in a beautiful environment and truly loved doing nails. But something was missing.
Some of my closest clients would ask me why I wasn’t working on my own. It really came down to confidence. Or lack there of. I had it pretty cushy. And change scared me a little. I definitely had a few limiting beliefs about what I was capable of.
It wasn’t until my 14 year old son stared harping on me. Really it was his idea. “Mom, why do you leave the house every day when you could just do it here?” He had a solid point.
With the help of my family and a few friends, we started to brainstorm what a studio would like in our house. How much would it cost to get going. And how long did we think it would take?
It wasn’t nearly as scary as I had first thought. Within three months and under $1,000, I was up and running.
I think the hardest part in all of this was actually giving my notice at work. I immediately felt ill and questioned my sanity.
There are so many things I love about working from home. My laundry is always done!! Ha, that’s probably my favorite part. But aside from that I get to make my own hours, plan out my own schedule and answer to no one but myself!
I get to spend more time with my family and dogs. Dinner is ready at a reasonable hour. The house is tidy. I am definitely less stressed. I could go on and on.
It has been one of the best decisions I could have made for myself and our family.
Anyone can do nails from home and make a little extra money. You could go all in and dedicate your time into making this your career, or you could go a little more low key, and just do nails as a hobby from time to time. Make a little extra spending money.
On average, I see about four clients a day. I start my day at noon and I am usually wrapping up by 5pm! Now that’s a dream schedule!!!
If you are the type that gets distracted easily, this may not be the best option. You really do need to be strict with yourself and have a proper working schedule, or things could get messy. I have an online booking site that I use and I have my sturdy notebook that I carry around with me everywhere, to keep things straight.
There needs to be a level of discipline. Like, have a shower and put on some makeup! Lol Let’s not get too comfy!
If you don’t like using social media, this may also not be for you. You may have to promote yourself to get clients. The best way to put yourself out there is on social. Or you will be sitting at home by yourself, doing your own nails, not making a dime!
I am a home body. I always have been. I love knowing that the fire is going and my puppies are curled up on the couch. Nothing better to me than throwing on the kettle and heading down to my girlie nail studio to chat with my beautiful ladies all day.
But I understand that may sound nice to some or maybe that sounds nice for a minute. Until you start to get stir crazy, feel like the walls are closing in and head straight for the front door! My dream may not be yours, I get that. For you, I suggest doing what ever makes you happy and causes the least amount of stress or anxiety in your life.
Do you want to work from home?
So what do you think? Have you been grinding it out for a few years and now feel like you are ready for a change of pace? Do you just want to jump in with both feet and try something totally new all together? Have I painted a pretty picture for you?
If you would like to take the leap but are nervous, PLEASE comment below! Let’s shake off those nerves and get you on the path you’re meant to take! Please let me know if you want to know how I did it in detail. Or if you have any questions about which steps to take to get started.
I want to help you succeed! I am your cheerleader! If I can do it, so can you girlfriend!!!
Love you guys, thanks for reading! xoxo
